Springmaid Mountain Offers Watermedia Workshop for Artists of All Skill Levels

Enjoy the Serenity of the Blue Ridge Mountains with Award Winning Watercolor Artist Mary Todd Beam

SPRUCE PINE, N.C., MARCH 10, 2015: For more than three decades, Springmaid Watermedia has been offering its popular watercolor and watermedia workshops at Springmaid Mountain. Springmaid Watermedia workshops offer participants the chance to engage with teachers and classmates amidst the beauty and tranquility of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Participants immerse themselves in this beautiful, unique environment with their favorite media in order to find the results they want: enhanced creativity, technique and new friends.

The workshop program is structured for both students and professionals alike and all levels of ability. Watermedia instructors are renowned as teachers, jurists, authors and artists in the United States and abroad. The spring workshop will take place May 10-15, and the fall workshop is scheduled for September 15-18. Spring’s workshop will be led by Mary Todd Beam, an elected member of the American Watercolor Society, twice-winner of the A.W.S. Gold Medal of Honor Award, along with many other national awards. Beam is the author of “The Creative Edge,” “Celebrate Your Creative Self” and is currently writing “The Creative Mind.” All-inclusive packages are available for the week starting at $850 and registration is required.

Become a more contemporary painter in Mary’s class by learning to use the tools of modern design. Since art is a means of communicating, participants will be using these new forms of expression; the strata, gird, circles and more. These and others become new vocabulary in expressing yourself more fluently. Each day begins with a demonstration by Mary of exploring color, line and texture.

Springmaid Mountain is located in Spruce Pine, North Carolina, which was recently named one of the "South's Next Great Mountain Towns." This small town of 2,000 residents features a quaint downtown area with nice offerings for shopping and dining. Spruce Pine also boasts the uniqueness of having not one but two main streets, Upper Street (Oak Avenue) and Lower Street (Locust Avenue).
