River Activities
Enjoy the natural beauty surrounding the North Toe River by scheduling rafting, kayaking, tubing and canoeing trips at Springmaid Mountain. Our self-guided trips generally last about 2 hours. Paddles and lifejackets are provided. Schedule a trip in advance when you book your cabin reservation online! You may also schedule with our office when you check in.
Rafting
Our rafts are suitable for up to four people.
Cost is $70 per raft.
Kayaking
Kayaks hold one person each.
Cost is $25 per kayak.
Canoeing
Our canoes transport one or two people each.
Cost is $50 per canoe.
Tubing
Tubers walk ½ mile up the waterfall trail and float down the relaxing river to the Springmaid swinging bridge. Tubes are available first come, first serve.
Tubing is $6 per day and the tubes must be returned to the office.
Horses
Springmaid Mountain offers a wide variety of equestrian services including trail rides, lead line rides for children, ½ day and over night trips, and daily and long-term boarding.
Trail Rides
Spend a morning or afternoon on winding trails that reveal nature at its best – majestic mountain vistas, gentle flowing rivers and dynamic fall foliage colors. Trail rides are guided on over 400 acres of mountain scenery. Call ahead to schedule an hour, hour and a half, or half day trail ride. Kids must be 8 or older and over 4 feet tall. Riders must weigh less than 250 lbs and wear close toed shoes. Double riding is not allowed.
Overnight Rides
Guests arrive at the stables at noon on Saturday and prepare for a five hour ride to the North Toe River primitive campsites.
Once on site, riders will set up camp for the night and cook dinner over an open flame. Sunday morning everyone will eat, breakdown camp and enjoy a leisurely two hour ride back to the stables. Overnight trail rides available April - September. Call ahead to schedule your overnight adventure now!
Boarding
For short term stays, keep your horse in our private pastures for only $10 per night. Call for extended boarding.
Fishing
Watch the excitement in the faces of children and adults alike at the moment of connection of fish and hook. Six ponds are stocked with trout, catfish, bluegill and bass. The North Toe River is also available for fishing. Bring your fishing gear and join in the fun!
24 hour fishing passes are $5 and trout are $3 each. NC fishing license required for river fishing.
Hiking
Explore the miles of hiking trail to waterfalls, rock cliffs and mountain overlooks. Hiking map provided at the office.
Hay Rides
Bumping along the primitive roads and crossing the river are a wonderful way to discover the peaceful mountain beauty surrounding Springmaid Mountain.

Other Activities
Along with our scheduled activities, we have a volleyball court for your pleasure, an ol’ time swimming pond, a swinging bridge, waterfalls, cornhole and horseshoe toss. With so many fun things to do, Springmaid Mountain is perfect for church groups, weddings, social functions, civic groups, corporate retreats, company picnics, family reunions and more. Boy Scout, Girl Scout and Venture Crew camping events are grand adventures at Springmaid Mountain.
