January 13, 2011: Fort Mill, SC – Leroy Springs & Company today announced the selection of Charlestowne Hotels to manage Springmaid Beach Resort in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Springmaid Beach was built by Springs Cotton Mills following WWII and became a favorite vacation destination in communities where Springs Mills were located. With expansions and upgrades over the years, the 30-acre property at Myrtle Beach’s south end now encompasses nearly 500 rooms, a conference facility, fishing pier, miniature golf course, and a series of pools and recreation opportunities. Leroy Springs will retain all ownership of the property.
Charlestowne Hotels (www.charlestownehotels.com), in operation since 1980, currently manages over 20 hotels throughout the southeast and has a proven record managing independent properties with an emphasis on quality and guest service. “Charlestowne Hotels is uniquely qualified to partner with us and continue our tradition of southern hospitality on the Grand Strand”, said Tim Patterson, President of Leroy Springs. “Charlestowne brings to Springmaid a level of knowledge and experience to operations we could not achieve as an independent hotel.”
“With its myriad of amenities and an unbeatable location, it is easy to see why Springmaid Beach has been a favorite destination for over 60 years” states Michael Tall, Partner, Charlestowne Hotels. “Their reputation and tradition in the Myrtle Beach area has been well earned. We’re excited to become part of that tradition as we look forward to the next 60 years!”
Both parties to the agreement expect the transition to be seamless to the thousands of vacationers that visit Springmaid each year.
