Dress Code Policy
We believe, in observing the traditions of the game of golf, it is appropriate to institute a dress code for the Springfield Golf Club.
We ask that all golfers adhere to the Springfield Golf Club dress code policy. Collared shirts, Bermuda length shorts, slacks, mock-neck style shirts are recommended items for dress. No denim (blue jeans), tee shirts, athletic shorts, tennis shorts, tank tops, halter tops, cut-offs, & other attire that is inappropriate for golf. If you have any questions about appropriate attire (including for children), please ask a member of the Golf Shop staff.
Pace of Play Policy
Expected playing time for a 4-Ball is 4 hours, 20 minutes.)
Monitor your playing time early in the round.
We ask that you stay up with the group in front of you. Player
assistants may ask your group to catch up to the group in front of you if you are slow. If a player assistant approaches your group and you are more than one full hole behind, the player assistant will direct your group to move ahead, possibly resulting in skipping a hole.
Please understand that this policy will be enforced only when it is actually necessary to move a group that is slowing groups behind them. This may occur if there is more than one hole open in front of a group and/or they are taking more than the allotted time to play a hole.
For example: A group playing at 3 pm with no golfers in front of them and no one behind them will not be expected to move “into position." This is not the purpose of this policy. Its intent is to help with slow groups that are bogging down the golf course during busy times.
Note: We prefer groups not let faster players play through unless the course is not busy. Keep pace. Twosomes cannot expect to play through all groups. This slows down all play.
Reminders which may help groups speed up play:
- Play Ready Golf – Play when ready…forget honors as long as it is safe. Be ready to “play” when it’s your turn. Determine yardage and club selection ASAP.
- Continuous Putting – Putt out when possible, if you are not stepping in someone’s line.
- Mark your partners’ balls. Watch all the shots, and mark their positions. This reduces search time, which should be 2 minutes or less.
- Be aware of your time on the course. Clocks & your starting time are available on your cart.
- Play provisional ball when your ball is believed to be lost or OB.
Thank you for helping us eliminate slow play!
